Chapter Twelve

Katina

For the last couple of weeks, I have been staying at Mikel's house. Mikel didn't want me to leave because he was too afraid that Kendall would come after me. Before Mikel dropped me off at home, he took me to get a new iPhone and a registered gun to make sure I was safe. I walked inside my house only to find it a complete wreck. All my Christmas lights were down, my Christmas tree was knocked over, and someone had spray-painted “the homewrecker that stole Christmas” on my walls. This had Sheree written all over it. I swear this girl doesn't get enough.

"This is exactly why I don't want you here, Katina. I will hate to have to mess somebody up. Don't worry about packing anything. I will get you whatever you need."

"Okay, but at least let me grab my work clothes and shoes from upstairs."

"Okay, hurry up," Mikel told me as he stood there guarding the door.

I walked upstairs to my room, grabbed my belongings, then we left.

I looked in the mirror when we pulled off, only to see a car that looked similar to Kendall's behind us.

"I think Kendall is following us," I told Mikel.

Mikel looked in his rearview mirror, then focused his attention back on the road. Seconds later, Mikel pulled over to the side of the road.

"Mikel, what are you doing? please don't do anything stupid."

"I'm not. I'm just going to beat his ass one good time, so he can know not to fuck with you or me ever again."

"Baby, please don't," I said, grabbing Mikel's arm.

"Katina, sit back and relax. I got this."

Mikel opened his door, and the cold winter weather made his body shiver. I turned around in my seat, watching Mikel as he walks towards Kendall's car.

"Get out the car," Mikel stated as he stood a couple of inches from Kendall.

Kendall didn't respond. He just sat there giving Mikel a death stare. If looks could kill, Mikel would be dead.

"This the worse year ever. What a way to bring in the holiday season." I thought to myself.

"Nigga, are you deaf? I want you to put your hands on me like you did, Katina. Just like I thought, you nothing but a pussy."

Soon as Mikel said that, Kendall hit the gas, running Mikel over. It happened so quickly there wasn't any way Mikel could have moved out of the way on time. Kendall kept going and didn't bother to look back.

"Oh my God, Mikel," I yelled as I ran to his rescue. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm good, but that nigga not going to be."

I helped Mikel off the ground and inspected his body.

"Oh my God, baby, you're bleeding." I panicked when I saw the blood seeping through his white Nike sweatsuit. I have to get you to the hospital."

"Please, no doctors, Katina. You're a nurse. You can check it out once we get home."

Mikel limped to the passenger side door, and I held the door open for him.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"I'm good, I promise you.
